Backups & resetting
Export supported local preferences, merge them safely and review what a reset will remove.
Find it in: Toolkit/Backup
Export before making big changes
Open Backup
Choose Export backup.
Save the JSON somewhere private
It can contain local notes and lists as well as preferences. Keep it where you can find it when changing profiles.
Keep results separately
Use the giveaway export for participants/results and the media save actions for videos. Those are not preference backups.
What the backup contains
| Included where supported | Excluded |
|---|---|
| Local preferences, themes and accent | Video files and file/folder access handles |
| Named sessions and local channel/filter lists | Live chat text, inbox and analytics samples |
| Private notes and moderation reason preferences | Game scores, custom game packs and giveaway pools |
| Provider preferences, override IDs and subscription definitions | Downloaded provider/list caches and custom MP3 bytes |
| Supported saved VOD/channel-volume data | Autoclipping queue and browser-session reservations |
Import and check the result
Choose Import backup
Select a supported JSON file. Data is validated before supported values are merged.
Review optional services
Existing subscriptions stay intact; newly imported lists start paused. Host grants and notification permission are separate from imported preferences.
Restart live tools deliberately
Open the intended chats and explicitly start Autoclipping or a new game. A backup never restores an active capture session.
Reset preferences deliberately
Backup also offers a reviewed full Toolkit/viewing reset. Read its scope before applying. It clears supported preferences and local lists/notes/saved chat, while the currently open channels, saved session library and browser permission grants have their separately described boundaries.
Common questions
Will a backup keep my chat transcript?
No. Chat text is excluded, including the optional restored sample.
Can I email my backup to support?
Inspect it first. Private notes and lists may be included. Send only the minimum relevant information.
Why did my custom sound not move?
Audio bytes and filenames are excluded. Choose the local MP3 again on the new installation.
Written for version 1.1. Some controls may be unavailable in an earlier installed release. See release notes.
